International Sustainable Energy Summit 2024 to further boost Malaysia’s RE target, the authority says

KUALA LUMPUR (May 29): The 6th International Sustainable Energy Summit (ISES) 2024, a cornerstone event for dialogue and innovation in sustainable energy, will take place on August 20-21, 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

The summit, themed ‘Accelerating Energy Transition through Innovation’, will be organized by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (Seda) Malaysia, hosted by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (Petra), and managed by Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to chair the summit, which is described as a premier, unmissable event in the field of sustainable energy.

The event is expected to attract strong participation from the region and beyond, based on last year’s successful performance.

Datuk Hamzah Hussin, CEO of Seda Malaysia and organizing chairman of ISES 2024, said the government agency is at the forefront of shaping the country’s energy future.

He said the summit will be instrumental in moving Malaysia towards its target of a 70% renewable energy capacity mix by 2050.

“We welcome partners to demonstrate their commitment to sustainable practices and innovation, contributing to global leadership in the sustainable energy sector,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

ISES 2024 includes plenary sessions and in-depth workshops, led by leading energy experts and leaders.

The sessions will explore a range of topics, including green mobility, grid modernization and the integration of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) principles into investment and financing strategies.

According to Seda, the event underlines the importance of developing new energy technologies and nurturing young talent to ensure a robust future for the energy sector.

A dynamic exhibition space will showcase the latest sustainable energy solutions, with trade programs and business matching sessions designed to drive collaboration and strategic partnerships, the report said.

Networking opportunities will provide energy leaders and stakeholders with a forum to exchange ideas and forge valuable connections, strengthening the Summit’s role as a catalyst for sustainable energy action and partnership.

Malaysia’s efforts have been internationally recognized, with twelve of the country’s projects winning the 2023 Asean Energy Awards for the adoption of sustainable energy practices.
