Deputy Secretary Torres Small discusses precision agriculture and the future of rural America with Kip Eideberg of AEM – AEM

Chicken Eideberg 600x250Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Xochitl Torres Small joined more than 12,000 visitors on the National Mall for the 2024 edition of AEM’s Celebration of Agriculture on the National Mall.

The Assistant Secretary opened the three-day event with remarks from the Main Stage, touring the exhibition and visiting equipment manufacturers to learn how the latest innovations and technologies will help build a sustainable future of safe and abundant food, fiber, feed, and innovation fuel.

While on the National Mall, Assistant Secretary Torres Small got a firsthand look at the latest agricultural equipment, including Precision Planting’s Radicle Agronomics™, the world’s first fully automated soil laboratory that delivers fast, accurate and cost-effective results using soil is used to take nutritional measurements to new levels. The Assistant Secretary also viewed John Deere’s 616R Sprter with See & Spray™ Ultimate, which uses computer vision and machine learning to control seasonal weeds in corn, soybeans and cotton, and Lindsay Corporation’s Zimmatic 9500 Series Center Pivot , which helps growers ensure more sustainable and efficient water use and management.

“Rural America is hard at work producing the food, fiber and fuel our nation depends on.” said Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Xochitl Torres Small. “President Biden’s historic investment in rural America supports this work across the country, through practical solutions to decades-old challenges, such as bringing high-speed internet to communities across the country, modernizing wastewater infrastructure and delivering climate-smart solutions that increase revenues. and increasing competition through more and better markets. “I am proud to join the Association of Equipment Manufacturers today to accelerate the great work our rural communities are doing to make our nation more resilient and competitive.”

The Assistant Secretary concluded her visit with a discussion with AEM Chicken Eideberg on a range of topics, including what the Biden administration is doing to help advance the adoption of precision agriculture technologies, what needs to be done to empower people to live, work and raise the next generation in rural America , and her own work to connect every community in America to affordable, reliable, high-speed internet.
