What was once the campus for Rodale Inc.’s publishing company is now a brand new independent senior living community.

Phoebe Ministries recently celebrated the opening of Chestnut Ridge at Rodale in Emmaus.

Phoebe purchased the property from the Rodale family in 2018.

Phoebe Ministries President and CEO Scott Stevenson welcomed residents to their new home and thanked them for their support.

“All of you here today have supported Phoebe and believed in this project. For many of you, the road to Emmaus has been long, but we are finally here, and we hope you enjoy living here,” he said.

Stevenson thanked business partners and individuals committed to creating Chestnut Ridge, including: RLPS Architects, Trilogy Construction Management, Wohlsen Construction, Barry Isett & Associates, Reese Hackman, Truist, the Rodale family, Phoebe staffers, Emmaus Mayor Lee Ann Gilbert, Emmaus’ Borough Manager Shane Pepe, and the entire Borough of Emmaus, for welcoming Phoebe to their community.

Chestnut Ridge is currently home to 141 residents.

The campus has 126 apartments spread over two buildings.

The North Building is a three-storey building with one and two bedroom apartments surrounding a central courtyard.

An informal restaurant with pub will be located on the first floor of the building, serving healthy dishes.

There will also be a marketplace, offering a variety of grab-and-go items, eliminating the need for residents to make additional trips to the store.

There will also be a beauty salon and a special dog wash area.

The newly constructed South Building is a four-story horseshoe-shaped building with a large courtyard and space for residents to entertain their guests. An outdoor amphitheater has been built on the property behind the building, at the base of South Mountain.
