Talented DL Linkin Zylstra wants to make an impression during the Irish invasion

Notre Dame has been extremely fortunate in tapping into the Canadian pipeline. It started with a former wide receiver Chase Claypooland is starting to become more common with names like Armel Mukam, Sean Sevillano And Will Black. Next up could be 2026 Oakdale (Conn.) St. Thomas More defensive lineman Linkin Zylstrawho goes to South Bend on Sunday for the Irish invasion.

This will actually be Zylstra’s second trip to Notre Dame, having already made one with Black a few months ago. The early relationship between the talented defensive lineman and the Irish staff is growing, and could quickly turn into an impressive performance this weekend.

“My relationship was good in the early stages,” Zylstra told Irish Breakdown. ‘They visited me on campus in the spring and saw almost a full day of practice there, from meeting to practice. My first impressions of Coach (Already) Washington is that he seems like a great coach and cares about his players.”

The 6-3, 285-pound defenseman is busy camping at various schools and continues to attract attention from several bigger programs. He has also set up a camp at Penn State next weekend. Overall, he’s excited to be back in South Bend and hopes to impress the coaches during practices.

“I am very excited to return to campus,” Zylstra said. “South Bend is a special place.

“I hope to show how dominant I can be in one-on-one conversations and my work ethic,” he continued. “It’s a great opportunity to impress the coaches and work directly with them.”

So far, Zylstra has received offers from UConn, Temple and UMass. That list of offers promises to expand quickly this season, with a big junior year ahead of him. There are several major schools keeping a close eye on him, including the Irish.

“Recruitment is going well so far,” he says. “I’m going to go to some camps and keep trying to get my name out there. As far as schools that stand out, it’s hard to say, but a few schools that did are Notre Dame, Penn State and Stanford.”

Will Zylstra leave this weekend with an offer from Notre Dame? It will depend on how well he performs for the Irish staff, but there is clearly intrigue. Only time will tell where things go from there.
