TUESDAY, JUNE 4
MEETING: Alanon, for those affected by one’s drinking, meets at the Microtel Inn, 350 Government Road, from 7 to 8 p.m.

SATURDAY JUNE 8
FISHING: The Friends of Larder Lake and the Lions Club of Larder Lake present the 65th annual Fishing Derby on Larder Lake, with a prize of $1,500 for the best lake trout and $500 for the best pike, as well as a Children’s Fish Derby, with prizes for the pike, perch and perch. Fishing begins at 7 a.m., with awards ceremonies at 6 p.m. A dance will follow at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at Larder Sports Bait and Tackle, Muddy Moose Restaurant, Larder Lake Co-op, Larder Lake General Store and North Star Plumbing, or from Friends of Larder Lake members.

Weekend passes cost $40, day passes $25 and advances $30. Seniors and students (with student ID) get $5 off adult passes. Children under 12 are free, but must be accompanied by an adult. Rough camping is available for $20 and there will be an inflatable area for children.

CONCERT: The Kirkland Lake Arts Council presents The Piano Man by Jim Witter in the Northern College Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. It is the first of eight Kirkland Lake Arts Council events for the 2024-2025 season. Series subscriptions cost $200 for adults and $150 for students.
