Fanning Dempsey National Park announces debut album tour

Fanning Dempsey National Park – the recently announced supergroup of Powderfinger’s Bernard Fanning and Something For Kate’s Paul Dempsey – have formally announced details of their debut studio album, as well as a national tour in support of it. The album is called The Flood, and will be released on Friday, August 2. A full list of the duo’s tour dates can be found below.

Dempsey and Fanning recorded The Flood last year in secret between San Francisco’s 2200 Studios and Fanning’s own Byron Bay studio with producer Craig Silvey and engineer Nick DiDia, respectively. They were joined by keyboardist Adam McDougall, bassist Craig McFarland and drummer Michael Urbano for the San Francisco sessions.

“We immediately agreed that there is no point in doing anything together if it is going to be what people think it will be,” Dempsey said in a press statement. “It’s not the two of us with acoustic guitars singing campfire songs.” For his part, Fanning agreed: “We didn’t want it to sound like a Fanning record or a Dempsey record,” he said. “We wanted it to sound like a band.”

Fanning Dempsey National Park will make their live debut this coming October with a national tour, playing theaters across the country. The pair have both promised a mix The Flood and songs from their respective back catalogs, both solo and with their respective bands.

“We told you all how happy we are to hear it The Flood, but that doesn’t compare to the fever we have to announce our national tour,” said Dempsey. “Get on board, bring your raincoat and prepare to have fun.”
