Local law enforcement officers participate in Torch Run in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – If you were driving down Nashville Road on Wednesday, you may have seen a few police cars and some people running.

To raise money and awareness for Special Olympics, police in the Warren County area walked nearly five miles from Kentucky State Police Post 3 to the SOKY Marketplace in downtown Bowling Green. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Bowling Green Police Department and local Kentucky State Police joined forces to support a good cause.

News 40 spoke with Bullitt County K-9 Sergeant Trevor Ford, who serves as the statewide coordinator for the LETR. Ford said this was the best inaugural run he has ever seen. Ford praised law enforcement in the area for showing up and showing how they did it.

Ford told News 40 that Bowling Green is running stage number 14 in Kentucky for the Special Olympics and said if any law enforcement agency is interested in hosting their own stage, he said to contact him through the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office or had to email him at [email protected] for more information.
