Michael “Kikel” Alcoseba died of pneumonia a few days before their graduation. The 23-year-old Lapu-Lapu City College graduate would graduate with honors.

Instead of Kikil, it was his mother and grandmother who went on stage to receive his medal and certificate. They brought his graduation photo on stage. His mother was emotional on stage.

Kikel Alcoseba’s mother walked through the procession alone, carrying his photo. In a post on social media, the sister of cum laude student Juliet Hiyas, who was due to graduate, expressed her sadness over his death, while remaining very proud of what she has achieved.

In a post on social media, Juliet stated that Kikel’s teachers and classmates said he contributed a lot to their school. His roommates also received a standing ovation when his name was called and his mother took the stage with his photo.

The family of the cum laude student is in pain when receiving his medal and certificate. She emphasized that her brother worked very hard and persevered to complete his studies. However, he is no longer present to receive what he worked hard for.

It also hurt Kikel’s sister to see the other graduates wearing their gowns and with their families, while she and her mother only had his graduation photo with them. She expressed her questions about her brother’s death as there are many opportunities for him. Here’s the viral post:
