De Parakeet and Bouchon Racine are organizing a joint four-handed dinner in support of charity on Wednesday, June 26. The event, a first for both restaurants, aims to combine the modern European fire cuisine of Ben Allen of The Parakeet with the refined French techniques of Henry Harris of Bouchon Racine. The dinner, which costs £85 per person, will donate 100% of food profits to two causes: suicide prevention charity Papyrus and MAP, which provides medical aid to Palestinians.

The one-night-only act promises a nine-dish menu showcasing a range of signature dishes from both chefs, with some new entries from Allen’s flame-grilled dishes. Mackerel & Salt Baked Kohlrabi Saladto Harris’ much-praised Ggrilled rabbit, mustard sauce and smoked baconincluding that of The Parkiet in-house Potato bread and smoked butterand Henry is famous Chicken liver pate with Cornichons. As a pre-dessert, Ben Allen has chosen one of his latest creations, a Strawberry Granita with Wood Sorrelfollowed by a Henry Harris classic Creme caramel And an Agen plum soaked in Armagnac

A special selection of biodynamic and low intervention wines will complement the meal, with prominent producers – Seasmoke, J. Rochioli and Casanova di Neri – and a curated list of Leoville Barton vintages, available by bottle and glass.

Allen expressed his excitement about the upcoming collaboration with Henry, as he noted: “His traditional French cooking methods are the foundation for all chefs and cooking and without them we would not have the development and innovation in cooking in this country that we currently have. – It is an honor to cook with him in the Parkiet for two charities.”

Henry Harris is also looking forward to the evening and said: “I love going to the Parakeet to eat on my days away from the kitchen and what (Ben Allen) has done with the food and what the team have done to transform this pub from the last 16 months has been really exciting.”

This charitable effort not only highlights Allen and Harris’ culinary prowess, but also supports two important causes close to the chefs’ hearts. In memory of the tragic loss of a family friend to suicide, Harris has chosen to donate half of the profits to Papyrus. In the meantime, citing the importance of helping children in the Middle East during these turbulent times, Allen is supporting MAP with the remainder of the proceeds.

The evening will be an interesting merger of both chefs’ worlds for a noble cause, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy a special gastronomic experience while contributing to meaningful charity work.
