Founded by New York City Brehons attorneys Sean Downes and Jennifer Frankola-Crawford and Belfast-based attorney Niall Murphy in 2016, the summer legal internship was renamed in 2018 in honor of NYC Brehons’ first president and human rights advocate, the late Brigadier General Jim Cullen.

Since 2016, the Brehons have selected a US law student to travel to Belfast and work at KRW Law on human rights and inheritance matters under the supervision of Niall Murphy.
